Abstract:
Abstract The paper reflects exemplarily the implementation of a Business Intelligence solution in an SME, which gets by with little manpower and without large IT investments. It shows the controlling manager the benefits he can generate for the company through a business intelligence solution. SIGA, a manufacturer of high-performance adhesive products, is trying to master the change to a data-driven corporate culture, supported by the Toyota Production System (TPS). Using Davenport and Harris’ model, the designs are divided into different levels of analytical maturity. Practical examples of standard reports, drill-down queries, statistical models and forecasts are shown. In a second part, the authors explain some stumbling blocks and lessons learned that they could have avoided.
