Chapter 8 in Successfully Managing Complex Companies, 2023, pp 69-81 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In Chapter 8, the task of the strategic development of the company is discussed. First, it is shown that the objective of strategic management is to build up new success potentials and to secure existing ones. Then, a two-dimensional framework of the strategic development of the company is presented. The first dimension consists of the three tasks (1) planning of the strategic development, (2) strategy implementation, and (3) strategic control. The second dimension consists of the subsystems (1) strategies, (2) strategic opportunities, and (3) strategic projects. The framework is followed by a description of the tasks. The chapter concludes with the responsibilities of the supervisory and executive boards in relation to the strategic development of the company.
