A chapter in Age-appropriate Driver Assistance Systems, 2024, pp 15-37 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter introduces the panel for the study of older drivers: a multi-stage study design with a preliminary examination of the subjects’ driving ability, their demographic characteristics (especially age), their latent and overt needs (age-related limitations and support potentials) as well as their specific needs (e.g., experiences and customer wishes for driver assistance systems depending on age), two main studies in the driving simulator, in which neurophysiological reactions, driving behavior as well as acceptance and willingness to pay are first examined for already offered driver assistance systems and then for improved (acoustic) systems, and a third study of further improved acoustic assistance systems with a smaller, somewhat differently composed sample in a vehicle on a test track.
