Chapter Chapter 1 in International Professionals for the DACH Region, 2024, pp 1-4 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Many companies are trying to address the shortage of skilled workers using different methods: developing the skills of their professionals, promoting young talents, or recruiting suitable professionals. The latter also includes the recruitment of international professionals. However, companies often shy away from this because they primarily face organizational and legal hurdles. Other aspects such as the “cultural fit” are seen as a challenge by many decision-makers. In this introductory chapter, the authors present the initial situation, the goal, and the structure of the specialist book along the employee journey of international professionals. The basis of the specialist book is the study conducted by the authors on the perspective of international professionals, to enable a change of perspective and new ways to find, bind, but also to develop international professionals in the DACH region.
