The Concept of Family Businesses

Hermut Kormann () and Monika Susanne Börner ()

Chapter Chapter 2 in Ownership in a Family Business as a Profession, 2024, pp 11-24 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Entrepreneurship has a very long history. Without the sedentarization of humans about 10,000 years ago and the introduction of the understanding of land as property of individuals, businesses could not have developed. Today, there are various business concepts in terms of goals, strategy, corporate culture, and legal form. Almost all of them are also found in family businesses. Accordingly, the spectrum of family businesses is large—or in other words: The goals, strategies, and structures of family businesses are correspondingly individual.
