Chapter Chapter 2 in Enterprise Architecture in the Digital World, 2024, pp 7-53 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In a rapidly evolving, digitized world, the terms and concepts of digital transformation, agility, new ways of working, understanding, and enterprise architecture are of central importance. They form the backbone for companies that must face the challenges of a dynamic and technology-driven environment. This chapter introduces the theoretical and conceptual foundations and concepts of the topic. Understanding is a central term that refers to the necessity to penetrate the complexity of digital transformation and to grasp its effects on various levels. It is about understanding the interplay of technologies, processes, people, and organizations in order to make informed decisions and bring about sustainable changes. The analysis of the central aspects will help us better understand the challenges and opportunities of the digital world for enterprise architects and develop innovative solutions for a sustainable future.
