Chapter Chapter 5 in Digitalization and Cultural Change, 2025, pp 99-123 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This chapter presents a pragmatic strategic approach to identifying potentials through digital technologies for one’s own company. This approach is based on the opportunities offered by existing relevant technologies and the company’s business model as a starting point. From this, project ideas and initiatives can be developed and evaluated. These can be situated on the following three levels: strategic, tactical, or operational. These levels distinguish the defining character of the transformation potentials for the company. The more broadly the process is anchored in the company, the more sustainable the acceptance of the results will be. In this chapter, a pragmatic approach concept is developed, which is particularly characterized by its clarity. Using the example of a company, it is subsequently demonstrated how to systematically approach digitalization and develop possible strategies in the digital world. In doing so, particular reflection is given to the corporate culture, and conditions are explained on how transformation processes can succeed within the framework of digitalization. This approach concept is also suitable for analyzing the potentials of AI for a company.
