Chapter 9 in Die EU Entwaldungsverordnung – The EU Deforestation Regulation, 2025, pp 93-98 from Springer

Abstract: Zusammenfassung Enforcement of the Regulation in practice will largely depend on how the competent authorities will (be able to) carry out controls and what sanctions will actually be imposed by the competent authorities in cases of infringements. Experience with the German Act on Corporate Due Diligence Obligations in Supply Chains (LkSG) has shown that the establishment of a competent authority with limited resources and no means of investigation, even in third countries, is not effective.
