Abstract: Zusammenfassung Das Kapitel beleuchtet die zentrale Rolle von Führungskräften im Kampf gegen Mittelmaß. Es wird argumentiert, dass die bestehenden Führungsansätze die Disengagement-Krise nicht verhindern konnten und es an handlungsleitenden Konzepten, die direkt auf die Bekämpfung von Mittelmaß abzielen, mangelt. Es entlarvt etliche Führungsmythen und weist auf Führungsfehler hin, die Mittelmaß verursachen. Führungskräften, obwohl sie selbst dem Energiesparprinzip unterliegen, wird verdeutlicht, dass sie durch bewusstes Handeln Mittelmaß verhindern und Engagement fördern können.
