Zusammenfassung Die Schlagworte Big Data und Business Analytics sind in aller Munde. Die Industrie nutzt zunehmend die Möglichkeiten der mathematischen Modellierung und Optimierung, die durch leistungsfähige Computer und Algorithmen zur Verfügung stehen. Die Finanzbranche nutzt die Mathematik, um Risiken zu bewerten und Aktienkurse zu prognostizieren; im Marketing nutzen Amazon und Netflix Predictive Analytics, um Produkte oder Filme zu empfehlen; Cloud Computing wäre ohne mathematische Verschlüsselungstechniken und Zuteilungsalgorithmen nicht möglich; und keine Fluggesellschaft wäre ohne die Algorithmen des Revenue Managements profitabel.
