Abstract: Zusammenfassung Wissenschaftliche Bibliotheken durchlaufen einen fundamentalen Paradigmenwechsel von Sammel- und Gedächtniseinrichtungen zu aktiven Gestalterinnen im Wissenschaftssystem. Strategisches Management ist dabei keine Option, sondern Notwendigkeit. Das St. Galler Management-Modell bietet einen tragfähigen Rahmen für die Integration normativer, strategischer und operativer Führungsebenen. Trotz Herausforderungen wie begrenzter Autonomie und Ressourcenknappheit ermöglicht ein systematisches strategisches Management die Navigation in komplexen Umwelten. Dies erfordert ein kontinuierliches organisationales Lernen und die Balance zwischen Innovation und Kontinuität.
