Abstract:
Abstract Random sets can be constructed by placing independent random objects at Poisson points and by taking their union. This simple idea underpins the definition of the boolean model. Despite its simplicity, it is methodologically and practically important, and has been the object of a considerable work (Matheron, 1967, 1975; Serra, 1982; Stoyan et al., 1987; Hall, 1988; Molchanov, 1997) .
