Chapter Chapter 2 in Difference Methods for Initial-Boundary-Value Problems and Flow Around Bodies, 1988, pp 171-193 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this chapter, we consider the following initial-boundary-value problem for hyperbolic systems with three independent variables x, φ, t. The initial conditions are given in the t-direction, the boundary conditions and the internal boundary conditions in the x-direction, and the periodicity condition in the φ-direction. Because a periodicity condition is given in the φ-direction, the way of discretization for the pure-initial-value problems can be used in the φ-direction. Therefore, it is not difficult to extend the method of Chapter 1 to this class of initial-boundary-value problems with three independent variables.
