Abstract: Zusammenfassung Lewis Fry Richardson, einer der schillerndsten britischen Wissenschaftler, war der Erste, der Bjerknes’ allgemeines Schema der Diagnose und Prognose in einen präzisen mathematischen Algorithmus verwandelte. Er führte seine Berechnungen während des Ersten Weltkrieges per Hand durch. Aber seine Prognosen waren falsch – aufgrund einer kaum wahrnehmbaren Abweichung in den Daten, aus denen die Vorhersage hervorging.
