Abstract: Zusammenfassung Die Anfänge der Trigonometrie finden sich in der Astronomie der Griechen. Die wichtigsten Beiträge zu deren Anfang wurden von Aristarchos, Hipparchos und Menelaos erbracht. Die Ergebnisse der beiden Letzteren werden von K. Ptolemaios in seinem Almagest übernommen, wobei er den Anteil von Menelaos verschweigt.
