Abstract: Zusammenfassung Die Lebensdaten von Theon (Θέων ὁ Σμυρναῖος) sind nur ungefähr bekannt. Die Suda nennt ihn Theon den Philosophen. Er stammt aus Smyrna, dem heutigen Ismir (Türkei). K. Ptolemaios schreibt ihm im Almagest vier Merkur- bzw. Venus-Beobachtungen in den Jahren 127, 129, 130 und 132 während der Regierungszeit von Kaiser Trajan zu. Er wird auch namentlich in den Schriften von Theon von Alexandria der ältere Theon genannt.
