Abstract: Zusammenfassung Ähnlich wie bei Heron ist die zeitliche Datierung von Diophantos’ Leben umstritten. Da er weder von Nikomachos von Gerasa noch von Theon von Smyrna erwähnt wird, könnte er um 250 n. Chr. gelebt haben. Da er selbst Hypsikles von Alexandria (um 150 v. Chr.) zitiert, kann er nicht früher gelebt haben.
