Abstract: Zusammenfassung Eines der frühen Rechenhilfsmittel vor der Einführung der Logarithmen war die sog. ProsthaphaeresisProsthaphaeresis (πρόσθεσιϛ = Hinzugabe; ἀϕαίρεσιϛ = Wegnahme). Sie bestand darin, ein Produkt mithilfe von trigonometrischen Formeln in eine Summe bzw. eine Differenz zu verwandeln.
