Chapter Chapter 5 in Nonlinear Systems and Controls, 2022, pp 343-501 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Chapter 5 of the book Nonlinear Systems and Controls describes methods of designing nonlinear controls for nonlinear plants. Gain scheduling, which is widely used in practice, is described and illustrated using a solar power plant as an example. Input-output and full-state exact linearization as well as the related flatness-based controls are explained in detail. The chapter concludes with controller design methods using control Lyapunov functions and backstepping. As in the other chapters, real-world examples and exercises demonstrate the practical significance.
