Abstract Eratosthenes (Fig. 13.1) (΄Ερατοσϑένης ὁ Κυρηναῖος) from Kyrene (today Shahat/Libya) lived from 273-192 BC and was a contemporary and correspondent of Archimedes for the Alexandrian mathematicians.
