Abstract: Zusammenfassung Während das Serapeion in Alexandria bereits 391 n.Chr. von christlichen Eiferern zerstört wurden, konnte die Akademie in Athen mit Unterbrechungen noch bis zum Jahr 529 existieren. Proklos war der viertletzte Philosoph dieser Akademie. Von ihm sind zahlreiche Schriften erhalten; für die Mathematikgeschichte bedeutsam ist sein Kommentar zum Buch I der Elemente geworden. Dieses Werk enthält das sog. Mathematikerverzeichnis; dies ist ein Ausschnitt aus der von Aristoteles in Auftrag gegebenen Mathematikgeschichte des Eudemos.
