Curse and Blessing of High Dimensionality
Sven A. Wegner ()
Chapter Chapter 8 in Mathematical Introduction to Data Science, 2024, pp 115-125 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Many datasets naturally occur in a high-dimensional space. Using simulations and simple calculations, we delve into the initially perplexing characteristics of datasets in high dimensions. We particularly focus on data that has been chosen uniformly at random from the hypercube or that follows a Gaussian distribution.
