Abstract: Zusammenfassung An Stelle der Summe 7 + 7 + 7 + 7 schreibt man das Produkt 7·4. Das Produkt 5 · 5 · 5 · 5 mit den 4 gleichen Faktoren 5 ersetzt man durch die Potenz 54. Ebenso ist a · a · a = a 3; a n = a · a · a · · · a (n Faktoren α). a n heißt Potenz, a heißt die Basis (Grundzahl), n der Exponent (Hochzahl). n muß nach dieser Definition eine positive ganze Zahl sein.
