Austrian Marginalism and Mathematical Economics
Karl Menger
A chapter in Selecta Mathematica, 2003, pp 531-553 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The Austrian marginalists and the mathematical economists agree in most of their fundamental economic views. Yet the relations between the two schools have not always been marked by sympathy and mutual understanding Since I am the son of the author of the Grundsätze as well as a mathematician, ‘two souls reside within my breast ’.I hope that this fact will help me in discussing various points of the controversy objectively.
