Memories of Moritz Schlick

Karl Menger

A chapter in Selecta Mathematica, 2003, pp 569-589 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract My first encounter with Moritz Schlick came in 1923 when, as a student, I listened to some of his lectures on Erkenntnistheorie (Epistemology) at the University of Vienna. Having read older epistemological writings I appreciated his undogmatic way of speaking in simple terms. My impression at the time was that of an extremely refined and very sincere man, unassuming almost to the point of diffidence.
