Introduction
Bert Schweizer
A chapter in Selecta Mathematica, 2002, pp 1-5 from Springer
Abstract:
Zusammenfassung In the Fall of 1952, I came to the Illinois Institute of Technology in order to take up my graduate studies under the direction of Karl Menger. During the four years that it took me to attain the doctorate, our association went from that of teacher-student to mentor-disciple; soon after that it became more like a father-son relationship; and then we became colleagues and friends.
