Reminiscences of Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy
Israel Gohberg
A chapter in Israel Gohberg and Friends, 2008, pp 213-215 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Béla Szőkefalvi-Nagy was one of my important teachers. I never was a formal student of his, but I studied systematically his book as well as the books he coauthored with F. Riesz and with C. Foias; they were always on my table. His papers and his results impressed me very much; they played a crucial role in my mathematical education. The papers of B. Sz.-Nagy also served as examples for me of how to write mathematics. M.G. Krein told me about the work and personality of B. Sz.-Nagy, so even before our first meeting I was very well informed.
