My Collaboration with Israel Gohberg
Joseph A. Ball
A chapter in Israel Gohberg and Friends, 2008, pp 281-282 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract My first meeting with Israel Gohberg was in the early 1970s when Israel gave a colloquium lecture at the University of Virginia and I drove up from Blacksburg to hear his talk. As a student at U.Va. only a few years earlier, we had a student seminar working through parts of the first volume of Gohberg-Kreĭn and here was my chance to meet the master in person. As I was a somewhat shy beginner in the profession, this was more of a case that I met Israel than Israel met me; my former U.Va. professors did all the hosting while I followed along in the background.
