Abstract: Abstract Measuring service structure is a requirement to advance our scientific understanding of service provision. This paper describes a method to analyze some aspects of service complexity from the viewpoint of the number of collaborating elements and their relations. All these relationships determine to some extent the complexity of the service production and indirectly, its final quality and the possible incidents during service provision. The properties of these networks of collaborations are candidates to devise measures of structure and complexity that are meaningful for system design. The approach to measuring complexity in this paper provides an analytical framework for the assessment of the design of the service, focusing on critical structural points.
