Chapter 1 in Trivariate Local Lagrange Interpolation and Macro Elements of Arbitrary Smoothness, 2012, pp 1-7 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Multivariate splines play an important role in several areas of applied mathematics. Due to their efficient computability and their approximation properties, they are widely used for the construction and reconstruction of surfaces and volumes, the interpolation and approximation of scattered data, and many other fields in computer aided geometric design and numerical analysis, such as the solution of partial differential equations.
