Abstract: Abstract The following article is about aspects of an economic orientated and dynamic human resource management approach and its contribution to business process optimisation. The paper starts with general deliberations about the key objectives of business activities as target points of process optimisation. Then, it focuses on the role of strategic management with respect to business processes of different kind. Within the range of managerial measures human resource strategies are of paramount importance in order to ensure economic access. Dynamic human resource management needs theoretical underpinning as e.g. the author’s concept of human assets. Human assets which consist of qualifications and motivations human beings can develop and use must not be mixed up with the notorious notion of human capital. Human assets — be it individual or institutional — are one of the key prerequisites for successful business process optimisation.
