A chapter in Intelligent Decision Support, 2008, pp 137-156 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The form of transportation of goods interferes with the company value. It is a significant lever for the increase of shareholder value. The valuebased map out of goods transportation requires a methodology that permits managers in charge to substantiate the correlation between the transportation design, the value drivers, and the company value. However, in the first place, most companies lack a methodology by which, for example, the advantages of alternative transportation modes could be demonstrated. Secondly, information systems are missing, which assist in assessing the multitude of aspects of transportation design and their complex valuation relationships in no time. This article presents a software-based methodology for the assessment of transportation alternatives.
