Abstract: Abstract In this chapter, we will present a quick overview of recent developments on singularities after the publication of the first Japanese version (1997) of this book. The goal of the chapter is just to show the directions of the research which is now going on. The reader who would like to step further in these directions is recommended to read some of the references cited in this chapter.
