Abstract: Abstract Acquiring organizational knowledge from managers and subsequently representing that knowledge in forms such as rules are vital to the building of an organization model. It would be possible to integrate expert systems based on such an organization model with existing organizational information systems. This paper introduces the Structured Object Model (SOM) as a means to acquire and represent organizational knowledge to build expert systems. The benefits of SOM and the application of SOM to the expert system development process are discussed. The paper concludes with the limitations of this method and future research directions.
