Chapter Chapter 1 in Chaotic Dynamics in Nonlinear Theory, 2014, pp 1-28 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Chaotic dynamics has proved to be one of the most exciting subjects in dynamical systems theory in the last two decades. In the last 30 years, scientists have found that unusual patterns arise frequently in important deterministic processes of interest to many fields, including chemistry, physics, biology, medicine, engineering, and economics. The fact that a perfectly deterministic system can behave in an apparently unpredictable way was of interest far beyond dynamical systems. In this chapter, some concepts relevant to chaotic dynamics are introduced.
