Chapter Chapter 9 in An Introduction to Dynamical Systems and Chaos, 2015, pp 409-439 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract So far we have discussed the dynamicsDynamics of continuous systems. An evolutionary process may also be expressed mathematically as discrete steps in time. Discrete systems are described by mapsMaps (difference equations). The composition of map generates the dynamics or flow of a discrete system.
