Abstract: Summary In parameter-dependent elliptic problems one is often faced with parametric error amplification also known as locking when solving the problem with a low-order finite element scheme. Typical examples of locking are the problems of bending a thin plate [4]_or shell [3] and the problem of anisotropic heat conduction [1, 2]. In this paper we consider the consistency error induced at the asymptotic limit of the parameter when using a modified scheme in the case of anisotropic heat conduction.
