Abstract:
Summary Flooding comprises many physical phemomena. Our model is based on surface flow described by a 2D model and soaking modelled by unsaturated porous media flow in a 3D domain. Mixed-hybrid formulations of these problems and numerical solution by finite elements are proposed. Some experimental computations were performed for realistic terrain data. Various precipitation behaviors and terrain modifications (afforestation, river-bed constructions) are considered and the results show the possibility of reducing flood effects.
