Chapter 6 in Energy Efficiency, 2009, pp 59-80 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In order to build and sustain a business relationship between energy suppliers and customers, the author establishes the business planning, communication and evaluation process. The reader is given a detailed five step methodology on how to develop an integrated energy supply business investment plan and compare a status quo plan with alternative technology, implementation, financing and ownership options. The author uses an Opportunity Assessment™ pyramid structure and Opassess software application to help the reader catalog all the assumptions that must be included in a full life cycle investment plan as well as the process and reports needed to make sound business decisions. Anecdotes of experiences at the University of Maryland, College Park, Illinois State University, the University of Iowa and the Department of Defense provide meat to the planning process and give evidence of the financial benefits of integrated investments to both customers and energy suppliers.
