Chapter 1 in Numerical Solution of Ordinary Differential Equations, 1987, pp 1-13 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract A simple example of an ordinary differential equation is 1.1 $$ {{dy} \over {dx}} = f\left( {x,y} \right), $$ where f(x,y) is a specified function of x and y, such as 1.2 $$ f\left( {{\rm x,y}} \right) = x^2 + e^x \tan y. $$
