Chapter D27 in Numerical Techniques for Engineering Analysis and Design, 1987, pp 237-244 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The level of kinematic errors is one of the main source of the gear noise and vibration. Thus, one of the goal of mechanical engineers is to solve the noise and vibration problems of the mating gears. In this paper, we assume that the equations of mating pinion and gear are given. The paper covered: (1) Computer simulation of the conditions of meshing and bearing contact and (2) Investigation of the sensitivity of gears to the errors of manufacturing and assembly (due to the change of center distance and axes misalignment). A method of compensation for the dislocation of the bearing contact induced by errors of manufacturing and assembly has been proposed. Three numerical examples have also been presented to illustrate the influence of the abovementioned errors and the method of compensation of the dislocation of bearing contact.
