Abstract:
Summary A computer program, using three dimensional finite element method, has been developed for the analysis of centrifugal impellers based on sector symmetry considerations. The program is applied to the analysis of impeller with curved vanes subjected to centrifugal loads and results are presented .A simplified analysis model of the impeller with axisymmetric idealisation is included after a comparative study of its results with that of three dimensional analysis. Region of maximum stress values occurring in the component has been identified by the axisymmetric model suggesting its application at the preliminary design stages.
