Abstract:
Summary A integrated CAD system. Microcomputer-Aided engineering structural Design System (MCADS), has been introduced. The idea is to combine finite element method (FEM), structural optimization, and techniques of computer-aided design (CAD) for producing more powerful computer-based design systems. The emphasis is put on interfaces of FEM-CAD, FEM-optimization, and CAD-optimization. Particularly, a quasi-analytic scheme is available for general sensitivity analysis with various constraints, variables, and elements. It easies the way to develop structural optimization software which is based on existing FEM system and has a equivalent ability of complicated problem handling to later one.
