Chapter Chapter Five in At Spes non Fracta, 1974, pp 123-154 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Although the problems which occupied Voûte and Porter during their visit to Moscow concerned but one mercantile house, they were in many ways symptomatic of the whole process of trading with Russia. Because of this, and also in the light of a speculative investment in cochineal, which will be described later, it is of interest to examine the house concerned more closely.
