A chapter in Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism, 2003, pp 101-112 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This paper describes two optimization techniques applied to electromagnet pole-shape design along with numerical results. The aim was to find a shape, such that a desired magnetic field distribution is achieved in the air-gap. The chosen optimization techniques were simulated annealing and taboo search both applied to the aforementioned problem. For approximate solving of partial differential equations the finite element method was used. Calculations were performed with MATLAB and its PDE toolbox.
