A chapter in Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism, 2003, pp 21-32 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract In this paper, the optimization of a superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) device is performed by means of three stochastic methods: genetic algorithms, simulated annealing and tabu search which are then compared. The parameter sensitivity is studied and improvements are proposed.
