Abstract:
Abstract This case explores a company’s responsibility for its social, environmental and economic impacts; and in particular, the risks associated with failing to manage negative social, environmental and economic impacts. These can be especially complex in joint ventures with multiple, external contractors; and industries operating at the forefront of proven technologies. The case examines the Deepwater Horizon disaster in the Gulf of Mexico and the consequences for BP. The case can also be used to examine crisis-management strategies and techniques.
