Chapter Chapter 4 in Foundations of Biostatistics, 2018, pp 103-135 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The discrete probability distributionsProbability distribution discrete are introduced in this chapter. The general rules of a discrete probability distributions are illustrated and the concepts of expected value and varianceVariance are shown. The rules are illustrated with a number of examples. This chapter includes brief introduction of the Bernoulli distribution, binomial distributionBinomial distribution , Poisson distributionPoisson distribution , geometric distributionGeometric distribution , multinomial distribution, hypergeometric distributionHypergeometric distribution and negative binomial distributionNegative binomial distribution . The important properties of these distributions are discussed and illustrated with examples. The applications of these useful distributions are given high priority.
