Chapter Chapter 2 in Statistics and Research Methods in Psychology with Excel, 2019, pp 23-69 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Selecting statistical technique for addressing research questions depends upon the type of data. After going through this chapter, one can understand different types of data and the method of interpreting them. Test construction is an important issue in psychological research; hence, a detailed discussion has been made on this topic to facilitate readers in developing different psychological test. One of the major issues in psychological studies is the assessment of human behaviour; hence, different types of comparative and non-comparative scaling techniques have been discussed with solved examples. In developing questionnaires, its reliability and validity are the two main issues; therefore, Cronbach’s alpha and Kuder–Richardson’s tests have been discussed in this chapter. Cronbach’s alpha is used when the response of the items is on Likert scale, whereas Kuder–Richardson’s is used when the response is measured on dichotomous scale.
