A chapter in The Palgrave Handbook of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, 2019, pp 165-178 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter discusses tobacco and its importance to Jordan and the Kingdom’s society since the World War I. Despite the centrality of cigarettes and tobacco generally to the everyday life of many Jordanians, one would be hard pressed to find more than a few words devoted to the subject in any of the recent scholarly histories of the country and its politics.
